Vital Leeds United contributor 1972Glory made the trip to the seaside and as well as getting a stick of rock and a kiss me quick hat he gives his views on how the Leeds players performed in the 1-0 defeat at Blackpool.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) as it turned out being the only one of the group at last night's game, I have given my scores for the player`s performance.
Only given him such a high score due to a few good saves. Distribution of the ball was woeful. He seemed intent on hoofing the ball as long as possible and bypassing the entire team.
He was left for dead on more than one occasion in the first half. Again, general ability was poor. I am struggling to understand what Colin see's in him.
Given him two points for the cards he picked up. He is completely out of his depth in this league. Any striker that shows an element of pace leaves him for dead and the only way he can stop them is by fouling. God help us if he ends up in the Irish side for the euros.
At least he and Bromby tried to show us that we do understand the meaning of defending, however as time went on, he began to be dragged down to Robinson and O'Dea level.
Kept a keen eye at the back and tried to minimise the damage. Was a bit of a threat with long throws but that is about it.
Absolutely anonymous in the first half, not much better in the second. Already packed his suntan cream and dreaming of the beach. When he did decide to play created some chances, but poor.
Had to check the team sheet again to ensure he was actually playing! Like Clayton, nowhere in the midfield and Colin must have been watching a video of another game if he reckoned Pugh had a good game, unless he measures running around like a headless chicken as a measure of success. Maybe Grayson might buy him for Huddersfield, please.
I think Snoddy has finally realised that he is playing with a bunch of Muppets who have finally dragged him down to their level. Unusually wasted a few free kicks and passing was a bit off. Not helped at all by the continuous long ball from Lonergan.
He wasted a glorious opportunity to score. Again, like Robinson I cannot see what Colin see's in him. Has a little bit of pace, but brain and body are not in gear. Hopefully, we have seen the last of him.
Service to Barn Door and McCormack was dreadful. On the rare occasion that Paynter did get the ball, tried his best, so for effort I am giving him 5.
Would have given him the same mark as Paynter for the same reasons, had he not tried to make a mountain out of a molehill with a straight forward foul in the penalty box.
None of them had any impact on the match. Connelly was only on to avoid Clayton being sent off.
Away fans. 10
They sang their hearts out again and they were even acknowledged by the group of Blackpool fans around me.
I cannot even find a Man of the Match, but will leave that to anyone else who was listening.
Warnock's view that they deserved something out of the game beggars belief. Clearly, it is not the worst performance the team have ever put in, but I found it hugely disappointing to watch.
This of course is only my opinion and the scoring may seem harsh, but I expected better.
