LUFC Bates critical of O'Dea following red card

LUFC Bates critical of O'Dea following red card

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has criticised on loan defender Darren O`Dea and questioned his commitment to the club.

O`Dea was sent off late in the game at Blackpool after picking up his second yellow card of the evening and he will now miss the trip to Cardiff City after recently returning from a two-match suspension for ten yellow cards this season.

Bates was less than impressed with the Republic of Ireland international defender who has been on a season long loan with the club from Glasgow Celtic.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bates said, "Neil and I chatted for over an hour this morning about various aspects of the club as well as the game. His view of it was that some players played well and enhanced their future prospects and others did not and should be looking in the mirror this morning, particularly O`Dea.

It is just not good enough getting himself sent off. It questions his self-control and commitment to the cub and I have no doubt the manager will be discussing it with him over the next few days."

Warnock has already expressed his desire to sign the 25 year old on a permanent basis this summer at the end of his loan period but may now be having second thoughts after this sending off.

The Leeds boss was also less than happy with the defender following the sending off when he spoke in his post-match interview with Yorkshire Radio. 'When you have been booked you don`t leave yourself wide open. It was irresponsible and I am not very happy about it,' commented Warnock.

O`Dea will now serve his third suspension of the season having also missed the game with Barnsley in November after picking up five yellow cards.
