LUFC Warnock - Penalty decision proved costly

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock felt Leeds were denied a clear cut penalty in the 1-0 defeat at Blackpool.

Warnock was unhappy with the decision by referee Tony Bates early in the second half when Ross McCormack looked to have been brought down inside the area and he felt it was the turning point in the game.

Warnock speaking on Yorkshire Radio said, "I thought we had a certain penalty but the referee said there was something wrong about it. It was either a penalty or a corner and he gave a goal kick, which I did not understand. It was certainly a turning point."

Leeds lost to a Martinez Angel goal with just eleven minutes remaining and Leeds defender Darren O`Dea was sent off moments later after picking up his second yellow card of the evening and Warnock had no complaints with the sending off. "When you have been booked you don`t leave yourself wide open. It was irresponsible and I am not very happy about it," continued Warnock.

O`Dea is now the ninth player to be sent off for Leeds this season and their fourth in fifth games.

O`Dea will now serve his third suspension of the season and he joins Michael Brown out through suspension.

Leeds will be boosted by the return to the squad of young defender Zac Thompson for the trip to Cardiff City on Saturday having now completed his three-match suspension.
