LUFC Blackpool v Leeds Over the years

Vital Leeds looks at the head-to-head record between Blackpool and Leeds United and Bloomfield Road over the years.

Despite their long histories, the two sides have only ever met on 20 occasions at Blackpool.

Blackpool have the better record with 10 wins, Leeds have won 6 and 4 have been drawn.

Tuesday will be the first time that Leeds have made the trip to Blackpool since the 1970/71 season.

On that occasion, Peter Lorimer scored for Leeds in a 1-1 draw.

The first ever meeting came during the 1920/21 season when Blackpool claimed both points in a 1-0 win.

The following season Leeds enjoyed their first win at Blackpool when goals from Basil Wood, Tommy Howarth and George Mason secured a 3-1 win.

Blackpool enjoyed their biggest win during the 1937/38 season when they won 5-2.

Leeds biggest win came earlier in the same decade. Billy Furness (2), Charlie Keetley (2), Tom Cochrane (2) and Bobby Turnbull were on target during the 1930/31 season when Leeds won 7-3.

Goals have never been of a short supply at Blackpool with 67 goals being scored in their previous 20 meetings and there has never been a 0-0 at Bloomfield Road.
