LUFC Warnock - Ross reaping rewards of hard work

Neil Warnock believes Leeds striker Ross McCormack is getting the rewards of his hard work.

McCormack netted twice in the 4-1 win over Peterborough United on Saturday for his eighteenth and nineteenth goals of the season and Warnock believes he will play a big part in Leeds bid for promotion next season.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "I thought about Ross on Friday night when Adam Le Fondre came on for Reading to score twice out of nothing and win them the game. You need a big squad, you need a good squad, and I see Ross playing an important part next season.

Whether he will start games all the time I am not sure but you need a decent squad and if you have that, you have other options. Ross McCormack`s goals speak for themself; they have been fantastic. I don`t think he has ever worked so hard in his life and he is getting the reward."

Warnock plans to sit down in the near future and negotiate a new deal with McCormack who is out of contract in the summer of 2013.

McCormack suffered a stuttering start to his Leeds career last season after signing from Cardiff City in August.

The Scottish international striker had to wait until the penultimate game of the season against Burnley to score his first goal for the club in his twenty-second appearance.

He finished the season with two in two when he netted at Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the season.

McCormack brought that confidence into this season and he netted ten times in his first thirteen appearances of this season.

He has been amongst the leading goalscorers in the championship all season and he is closing in on his best return in a season having netted 23 times for Cardiff during the 2008/09 season.

The 25 year old has been an almost ever present for Leeds this season. He has made the most appearances for the side having made 46 appearances, having only missed the game with Millwall in December.

He has been my player of the season this season. In recent games he has looked the one bright spark whenever he has had the ball.

I hope Warnock isn't saying our top-scorer Ross will be relegated to impact sub appearances next year. We must be signing Messi if that's to be the case. I agree he has been our best player this season.
