LUFC Bates - We have made White a very good offer

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates is hoping that the new contract offered to Aidan White will be accepted believing they have made the youngster a very good offer.

White had been a regular in the Leeds side this season until his recent ankle injury ruled him out for the remainder of the season and Bates feels the contract offered to White is a good one considering his limited experience at this level.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bates said, "Aidy has had his offer and we hope that he will sign because we think we have made him a very good offer to him seeing as he as only played 30 odd championship matches."

Bates is hopeful that they will know soon one way or the other regarding the future of White and is happy if White does not sign a new deal they will receive compensation because of the players age. "We are hopeful that it will be put to bed, but on the other hand if he doesn`t accept it we will get compensation because he is under 24," added Bates.

The 20 year old has come through the clubs academy system and is out of contract in the summer.

Leeds boss Neil Warnock said in the week that he is set to sit down with White, his father and the player`s representative on Monday to discuss the offer made to the versatile youngster.
