LUFC Premier League opposition set for pre-season

Leeds United have arranged a home pre-season friendly against an unnamed Premier League side according to chairman Ken Bates.


Bates refused to name the opposition lined up for Leeds but said it would take place on Friday 10th August at Elland Road.

It will be Leeds final pre-season friendly ahead of the new season with the Carling Cup seeing the first competitive fixture of the season the following midweek.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bates said, "We will be playing a Premier League club on Friday 10th August.

"The first round of the Carling Cup takes places in week commencing Monday August 13th and it could be that we are drawn away so we are playing the game on the Friday night to give the players a little bit more recovery time.

"We are also in negotiations with a number of possibilities about pre-season friendlies, some of which will be abroad and we hope to be announcing those over the next few weeks."

The close season will be longer than usual with the season ending on April 28th and not starting again until August 18th.
