LUFC Warnock - Five players in contract talks

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock says he has held provisional talks with five players who are soon to be out of contract.

Warnock has a number of key players out of contract by the end of next season and he is keen to sort out new deals to keep them at Elland Road.

The Leeds boss is also keen to work something out with Darren O`Dea who has been at Elland Road on a season long loan from Glasgow Celtic and been a regular in the side.

Speaking on LUTV, Warnock said, "I have spoken to five of them. They were just provisional talks, I am going to put together certain things, and when the chairman comes over at Easter, I hope to have a meeting with him and tell him my views on the five players, including Darren O`Dea.

"I have spoken to them all and explained my situation and how I feel about their contribution. I have also said that if we cannot agree anything I accept in certain cases that they might have to go. At the moment though we have not spoken about that, I want them all to stay."

Leeds have nine players with first team experience this season coming to the end of their current contracts this summer.

Aidan White, Michael Brown, Danny Webber, Mikael Forssell, Lloyd Sam and Alex Bruce have all played in the first team since the arrival of Warnock and are all out of contract this summer.

More noticeable are those players out of contract in the summer of 2013 with key players Robert Snodgrass, Ross McCormack and Adam Clayton all coming to the end of their current deals.

There are a lot more than five players in the list of players out of contract this summer and next summer that I expect Warnock to offer deals to. I can see White, Brown, Webber, O'Dea and even Bruce offered new deals of those out of contract this summer. He must get the likes of Clayton, Snoddy and McCormack sorted out as well.
