LUFC Lonergan - Millwall game biggest of my career

Leeds United goalkeeper Andy Lonergan says last weekend`s game against Millwall was the biggest game of his career.

The experienced 28-year-old keeper came into the game with Millwall having conceded seven in midweek against Nottingham Forest and he knew he had something to prove.
.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Lonergan said, "For me, I felt like it was the biggest game of my career so far.

"To have let in seven, I had to show something to the fans and prove that I can produce it at this level, which I know I can."

Lonergan along with his Leeds teammates bounced back from the humiliating defeat to Forest with a 1-0 win at Millwall to keep their play-off hopes alive.

After going ahead thanks to a goal from Ross McCormack, Lonergan was at the centre of the action with a superb penalty save to deny Millwall striker Darius Henderson.

His save and clean sheet for Leeds, was their fourth on the road in a row, something that has not been done since the 1974/75 season.

Lonergan will now be hoping to replicate his away form at Elland Road, having not managed a clean sheet at home since the 1-0 win over Portsmouth at the beginning of October.

His clean sheet against Portsmouth is his only one in sixteen appearances at home this season.

Leeds have managed just two at Elland Road all season, with on loan goalkeeper Alex McCarthy keeping their last clean sheet at home against Millwall at the start of December.
