LUFC 37 year wait over for Leeds defence

Leeds United achieved a first in almost forty years when they kept their fourth away clean sheet in a row at Millwall on Saturday.

The shut out by Leeds was helped by a fantastic penalty save by Leeds goalkeeper Andy Lonergan from Darius Henderson in the second half.

Leeds have now kept clean sheets in all four of their away games since Neil Warnock became manager at Elland Road.

Incredibly, it is the first time they have achieved the feat in a season in all competitions since the 1974/75 season, when Leeds managed to go eight games in all competitions under the management of Jimmy Armfield.

Leeds have yet to keep a clean sheet at Elland Road under Warnock and they set a new club record defeat in the last home game when Nottingham Forest beat them 7-3.

Warnock will be hoping to remedy the problem on home soil when they entertain Watford on Saturday.

Leeds have now failed to keep a clean sheet at home in their last eight games, since beating Millwall 2-0 on December 3rd.

Only two of Leeds ten clean sheets this season have come at Elland Road.
