LUFC Warnock praises Lonergan after mixed week

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says Andy Lonergan bounced back from the defeat against Nottingham Forest in midweek with a crucial penalty save.

Lonergan conceded seven in midweek but he managed a clean sheet in the 1-0 win at Millwall with the help of a crucial penalty save.

Leeds have just gone ahead when Millwall had the perfect opportunity to get straight back into the game when former loan player Andy Keogh was fouled inside the penalty area.

Lonergan dived low to his left to keep out Darius Henderson`s spot kick as Leeds clinched a crucial three points.

Warnock was pleased with the response of his goalkeeper. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "I told him well done today. He had a nightmare the other night, it happens.

"That is the way to bounce back. It was a great save for the penalty and he contributed well despite not having much else to do."

It was the second penalty save of the season by Lonergan, who kept out a Nicky Maynard spot kick for Bristol City at Elland Road back in September.
