LUFC Warnock - Lees will learn from his mistake

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says young defender Tom Lees will learn from his mistakes after allowing West Ham defender Danny Collins to beat him to the ball for the hammers equaliser in the final minute of the game.

Leeds looked to be heading to three much needed points against West Ham when Luciano Becchio put Leeds ahead with just seven minutes remaining.

That was until Collins managed to lose Lees in the penalty area to equalise for the hammers in the dying moments of the game.

Warnock says Lees has been the shining light in his side since his arrival at Elland Road and he will learn from his mistake.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "He was outstanding on Saturday and it is something he will have to learn. It is no good being superb for 90 minutes and then losing the game.

"I think he will learn from it. Likewise, at Portsmouth when he shoved his arm up. I don`t think he will do that again.

"It is a matter of learning as quickly as possible. You make mistakes and you will recover.

"I think he has been the shining light since I have come here the way he has played his games and the way he has gone about his games.

"He has been fantastic and he has just got to learn to be a bit more professional at certain times. Hopefully he will learn from it and not do it again."

Lees came through the Leeds United academy and spent two successful seasons out on loan with Accrington Stanley and Bury in the past two seasons.

The 21 year old played a key part in helping Bury to win promotion from League Two last season and he scored the goal that won them promotion at Chesterfield.

Lees took his opportunity in the Leeds side at the start of the season when he made his debut against Bradford City in the Carling Cup, Leeds second game of the season.

The versatile defender has been an almost ever present since and is amongst the leading appearance makers for Leeds this season, having played in 36 games.
