LUFC Warnock - We can't keep throwing points away

Neil Warnock says the side cannot keep throwing points away if they are to stand any chance of making the play-offs.

Leeds looked to be heading for three crucial points when Luciano Becchio headed Leeds ahead with just seven minutes remaining but Danny Collins equalised for West Ham in the final minute to keep West Ham`s automatic promotion hopes alive.

Warnock admits there is little room for error with games running out quickly and he is hoping that his players can learn lessons from their second home game in a row, which has seen them come away with less than they deserve.

Speaking on LUTV, Warnock said, "It is difficult to come out and not be disappointed when we have thrown two points away.

"We can`t keep throwing points away. I think everyone knows we need to win games."

In Warnock`s first home game in charge, Leeds dominated league leaders Southampton but came away with nothing after an inspired display from saint`s goalkeeper Kelvin Davis.

Warnock feels they should have taken six points from the two games. "The Southampton game was even more so. We have played two good sides now and we should have taken six points. We only have one point out of it so we have to lot to learn our lesson.

"We can`t throw games away like this and Southampton and we have got to learn lessons quickly. "

Leeds are now five points off the play off pace with nine games remaining and now need seven wins from their final nine games to have any hope of reaching the end of season play-offs.

Teams that get promoted are not lucky and the bridesmaids unlucky. We need to learn how to close games out and convert cgances when we are on top like the teams going for automatic.
