LUFC Warnock full of praise for Connolly

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock was full of praise for full back Paul Connolly after the win at Middlesbrough.

Connolly looked like he had been frozen out of the side under former boss Simon Grayson but he has taken his opportunity following a number of injuries in the right back position.

With Adam Smith returning to Tottenham Hotspur and Leigh Bromby and Alex Bruce ruled out through injuries in recent weeks, Connolly has taken the opportunity to resurrect his Elland Road career.

Warnock was full of praise for Connolly after the game and he feels he has a future at Leeds if he can continue with the level of performance he has seen from him so far.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "When players like Paul Connolly are playing like that. I have just told him, 'I could not pay money out for a player better than you are at the minute,` the way he has played in the last two games.

"It is up to him really. If he plays like that then there is a future for him.

"It will save my chairman some money, he will like that won`t he."

Connolly has now played in the last three games and Leeds have yet to concede in his time on the pitch.

He made his comeback as a first half substitute against Southampton and he has started the games against Hull and Middlesbrough.

His appearances for Warnock have been his first since the 4-1 defeat at Barnsley on New Year`s Eve.

Former boss Simon Grayson commented after that game that certain players would never play for him again at Leeds and before his dismissal, Connolly was the only player who started at Barnsley who had not featured since.
