LUFC Warnock full of praise for individuals

LUFC Warnock full of praise for individuals

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock was full of praise for a number of his players after the win at Middlesbrough and he believed midfielder Michael Brown epitomised the work ethic of the side.

Brown enjoyed the best spell of his playing career under Warnock during their time together at Sheffield United and he has looked like a new player since the arrival of Warnock at Elland Road.

Warnock was full of praise for the veteran midfielder who once again did an excellent job of snapping at the Middlesbrough midfield with a tireless display.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "I thought Michael Brown epitomised our hard work from the first kick. He chased down two or three players and ended up getting the tackle in and I thought that set us off.

"I thought from then the crowd were with us and it was a great away following again, the fans never cease to amaze me."

Warnock was also full of praise for his two forwards and he thought Ross McCormack had probably never worked so hard in his life. "At this level, you have to work hard. People say it is about being good defenders but defending starts with the forwards.

"That is the minimum requirement, hardworking forwards. I don`t think Ross has ever worked so hard in his life but when you get your rewards, it is very pleasing.

"He (Becchio) lost a tackle in the first half that annoyed me because they broke but he didn`t do much wrong today,"
continued Warnock.

Warnock handed a debut to veteran defender Paul Robinson at left back and despite a lack of first team football in 2012.

Robinson is the epitome of a Neil Warnock sort of player that is rubbing off on the whole squad.

The tough tackling full back quickly endeared himself to the Leeds faithful with his tough tackling, blocking and his never say die attitude and Warnock was full of praise for him after the game. "Paul Robinson looked good. He hasn`t played since Christmas and he looked a little bit stiff at half time.

I told him he could come and stand with me after 75 minutes if he wanted but he looked like he had been with us all season and it rubbed off on the others,"
added the Leeds boss.

The win finally saw Warnock get his first three points as Leeds boss despite three much improved performances recently since he took over.

Leeds have struggled defensively since their return to the championship and Warnock has quickly turned around the fortunes defensively.

The clean sheet was Leeds third in four games since he took over and Warnock says there has been lots of hard work done defensively since his arrival. "I think you have to start at the back. In the Doncaster game, we were poor defensively if I am being honest. We had to work non-stop with the defenders and we managed to change it but then we could not score goals.

Warnock praised the centre half partnership of Tom Lees and Darren O`Dea after the 0-0 draw at Hull City in midweek and he was once again impressed, especially with O`Dea putting his head in where it hurts. "I thought today we had the complete performance. I thought we defended well and I love to see a bit of blood on a centre half`s head and a bandage and I thought he (O`Dea) did well today."

Leeds have now kept three clean sheets in a row on their travels under Neil Warnock, something that was last achieved in the league under Dennis Wise in the early months of the 2007/08 season.
