LUFC Middlesbrough v Leeds Head To Head

Vital Leeds looks at the head-to-head record between Middlesbrough and Leeds United on Teesside over the years.

The two sides have met on 43 occasions at Middlesbrough with the home side winning 18, Leeds have won 10 and 15 have been drawn.

Ten of the last sixteen games at Middlesbrough have ended in a draw, with Leeds losing just two.

The first ever meeting between the two clubs came in a FA Cup Third Round clash during the 1925/26. Leeds had just a John Armand penalty to shout about in a 5-1 defeat.

Leeds enjoyed their first win their in the 1932/33 season at the fourth attempt. A Charlie Keetley goal was enough in a 1-0 win.

Middlesbrough enjoyed their biggest win in an FA Cup clash during the 1945/46 season. At the time the FA Cup first round was played over two legs and after the first game at Elland Road was drawn 4-4 Middlesbrough won the second leg 7-2.

Leeds have won 3-1 on two occasions during the 1961/62 and the 1963/64 seasons.

In 1961/62, the Leeds goals came from Derek Mayers, Billy Bremner and Jack Charlton.

In 63/64 Leeds goals came from Johnny Giles, Ian Lawson and Alan Peacock as Leeds stormed to the Second Division title.

Leeds have visited Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on nine occasions and they are still unbeaten there.

Leeds have won three, including last season and the other six games have all been drawn.

The last time the two sides met last season, a Davide Somma goal and a superb volley by Luciano Becchio secured the points for Leeds in a 2-1 win.
