Leeds United midfielder Adam Clayton says the side can still reach the end of season play-offs despite going down to their thirteenth game of the season at the weekend.
Leeds are six points behind the play off places in tenth place and with most of the clubs above them with games in hand, the odds are stacked against them with just twelve games remaining.
Clayton feels though that with games against six sides currently above them in the table they can quickly move up the table if they win these games.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Clayton said, "We have twelve games remaining and we are still more than in their fighting. If we can put a run together at this stage of the season, as Reading did last season, we can do it, there is no doubt about that."
Leeds somehow managed to lose against Southampton at the weekend despite dominating the league leaders throughout.
Clayton believes that if Leeds can play like that for the remainder of the season, not many sides will be able to live with them. "If we play like we did against Southampton I don`t think many teams will be able to live with us.
"We have some big games against teams around us, so they are six pointers and if we can get the wins we can quickly shoot up the table," continued Clayton.
Leeds next three games are all against teams currently above them starting with a trip to ninth placed Hull on Tuesday night.
This is followed by a trip to fifth placed Middlesbrough on Saturday before returning to Elland Road to face second placed West Ham the following Saturday.
In the final month of the season, Leeds face trips to Reading (3rd), Blackpool (4th) and Cardiff (8th), so their destiny could still well be in their own hands.
