LUFC Clayton - We must take confidence in defeat

Leeds United midfielder Adam Clayton says the players must take confidence from the performance against Southampton despite losing.

Clayton looked back to his early season form as he alongside Michael Brown in the middle worked hard closing and harrying the Southampton midfield.

The midfielder feels that if they can play like that between now and the end of the season they will not be far off the play-offs come the end of April.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Clayton said, "We have just got to take confidence out of the Southampton game. We now have the crowd back on our side for the rest of the season they were a different class.

"If we can play like that between now and the end of the season, we won`t be far away."

Clayton went as far as to say, he felt it was the best the side had played this season as well as his own best performance. "I think personally and collectively it is the best we have played all year and I think the fans recognised it early doors and got right behind us.

"I don`t think I have ever been involved in a more one sided game. I thought we were brilliant and we were attacking the whole game."
