LUFC Leeds fans view v Southampton

Tiny T gives us his usual fans view from the game at Elland Road. This time after the 1-0 defeat to Southampton.

Lonergan 7
He had little chance with the goal and rarely troubled for most of the game.

Bromby
Our defensive injury jinx struck again

Lees 8
Marshalled the attack and gave little away.

O'Dea 7
His best game for a long time, though slipped for the Southampton goal.

Pugh 7
He should have stopped the cross for the goal. He got better as the match went on, got forward to support Snoddy.

White 7
Not a right-winger but his pace troubled the fullback all game. He should have applied the finishing touch at the back post to put us level.

Clayton 9
His best game in a Leeds shirt. He was everywhere, says it all. Is it the cameras that makes him play better?

Brown 8
Solid and snappy in the tackle and never say die attitude. Where has he been all season?

McCormack 8
Ran the Southampton defence ragged

Becchio 9 Star man
He could have had a hat trick, Davis stopped everything that Becchio put at him. He won just about everything in the air, a rejuvenated player.

Subs
Connolly 7

Reliable at right back and did not let the side down

Webber 7
He proved a hand full for an overworked defence. He could have opened his Leeds account.

Sam 6
He kept us on the front foot.

Summary
Where do I start, this was the best performance by a Leeds Team for two Seasons.

Solid at the back, tight in the middle and pace and industry all over the field.

The Southampton Keeper the man of the match says it all.

The first time in a long while that the team was applauded off at half time and at the end, shows how much the performance was liked by the fans.

The Warnock factor seems to be working and we have belief and ability.

Poor players seem to have been transformed over night, I also liked his after match comment that this was ' the minimum expected on match day '.

The only disappointing aspect was the poor crowd for such a good display less than 21,000.

Let us hope for more for the next home game. Bates may be an obnoxious old sod but were stuck with him unless one of you is a Russian billionaire in disguise then get down to Elland Road and support the team just don't buy his beer and pies.

Looking forward, we may not make the play-offs but with some additions and rid of the deadwood, next season may see us flying.

Clayton would have just got my man of the match

Saints Fan in peace: Funnily enough I though Becchio (although obviously talented) seemed to start whining and falling over after about 20 minutes and didn't stop till the final whistle. Saints were obviously fortunate but Becchio's "hard done by" attitude seemed to be infectious. He should have finished at least once. As good as Davis was its got to be more than bad luck that he didn't get a goal.

Oh BTW Saints had a poor day offensively. This allowed you to press forward all match. Your MOTM for me was Brown. Clayton and Becchio understandably will get plaudits but if your team can adopt his positive attitude you lot should can still make the playoff depending if Borough and/or Blackpool drop off
