LUFC Warnock looking forward to Southampton test

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock is looking forward to the test against top of the table Southampton in his first home game in charge on Saturday.

Southampton started the season with a 3-1 home win over Leeds United and they have been in the automatic promotion places for most of the season.

Southampton are the leading goalscorers in the championship this season with 61 goals, whilst Leeds have conceded 48 and Warnock has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his backline.

The Saints also boast Rickie Lambert in their side who is the leading goalscorer in the championship and who hit a hat trick last weekend.

Warnock is looking forward to the test against Southampton he is also looking forward to seeing how his players will cope.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "The game with Southampton will give us a different test. They play it around quickly and they are flying, buzzing and full of confidence, as you would expect.

"It is similar to what we were like at Queens Park Rangers last year. We never thought we could lose a game and that is what happens when you are top of the league. It will be a good test for us all and I am looking forward to seeing how we cope."

The Saints had a bit of a stumble, winning just three times in twelve games after having looked like they were going to walk away with promotion around the end of November.

They have looked back to form in recent weeks and have picked up ten points from a possible twelve, including scoring seven goals in their last two games without conceding.

We will go into the next four games as underdogs. It will make a nice change to have the pressure on the other side. Saturday will really tell us what effect Warnock has made.
