LUFC Skipper full of praise for Brown

New Leeds United skipper Robert Snodgrass was full of praise for midfielder Michael Brown in the 0-0 draw at Portsmouth.

Leeds signed Brown from Portsmouth in the summer and he has struggled in his first season at Elland Road, with the game at Fratton Park just his sixteenth appearance of the season and only his second start in 2012.

Brown had his best game in a Leeds shirt as he put himself about in the midfield area with a number of blocks and strong tackles.

Snodgrass was full of praise for Brown when he spoke to LUTV after the game. "I thought Michael Brown was superb today, he was throwing his body on the line and that is what it is all about.

The arrival of Neil Warnock could be a new lease of life for Brown who struggled under former manager Simon Grayson.

The 35 year old played some of the best football of his career when he worked with Warnock during their time at Sheffield United.

Brown played for Warnock for five years at Bramall Lane and he was named the clubs player of the year in the 2002/03 season as he netted 24 goals from midfield as the side reached the semi-finals of both the FA and League cup and they were also beaten in the Championship play-off final.

His form eventually earned him a move to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and he also played for Wigan Athletic, Fulham and Portsmouth in the top flight.

Brown signed a one-year contract at Elland Road last summer with the club taking the option of a further year.

I was full of praise for both Brown and Clayton in the middle of the park at Portsmouth.
