LUFC Warnock - White had a point to prove

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock was delighted with the performance of Aidy White who played on the right wing against Portsmouth on Saturday.

The naturally left footed White has been a regular in the Leeds side this season but he has usually played either on the left wing or left back.

White was moved to the right wing to accommodate the new role for Robert Snodgrass in the centre of the pitch.

Warnock said White had a point to prove after the staff said that he could not play on the right side.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "Aidy did ever so well. He is keen and dedicated. The staff said he could not play there and I said to Aidy that we would show them.

"I thought he did well, he contributed well and it gave us opportunities to switch around. He tired near the end but I didn`t want to make any substitutions near the end."

White has enjoyed a productive season and he has been an almost ever present for the club this season.

He has also become a regular in the Republic of Ireland under 21 team and he has played in all five of their games so far this season.

White netted his first goal for Ireland against Liechtenstein in their last international and he is on the shortlist for the Republic of Ireland young player of the year awards that are presented this evening.

The youngster who came through the Leeds United academy is out of contract at the end of the season at Elland Road.

Why do we play players out of position when we have players who are natural in the role?
