LUFC Former striker in management surprise

Former Leeds United striker Terry Connor is the surprise new manager at Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Connor was assistant manager to previous boss Mick McCarthy and he has been given the job until the end of the season to try to steer Wolves away from the relegation zone.

The Leeds born lad made just over 100 appearances for Leeds in four years with the club, after scoring on his debut as a 17 year old in 1979.

Connor eventually moved on to Brighton and Hove Albion in 1983 and he had a fifteen-year playing career, finishing at Yeovil Town in 1994.

The 49 year old has been involved in coaching since ending his playing career, having spells at Bristol City and Bristol Rovers before joining Wolves in 1999.

Connor takes over at Wolves with the club occupying the final relegation place although they are on the same points as Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers who are directly above them.

He starts his managerial career with a trip to Newcastle United on Saturday.
