LUFC Warnock - Atmosphere whets the appetite

New Leeds United manager Neil Warnock says the Leeds fans whet the appetite to succeed after watching his first game from the stands on Saturday following his appointment.

Warnock was impressed with the atmosphere inside Elland Road, saying it has whet the appetite as he gets ready for his first game in charge at Portsmouth next weekend.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "What really turned me on today was the crowd and the atmosphere and that`s without doing anything really. It just whets the appetite doesn`t it?"

"I remember coming to watch Manchester United here. I was watching Tony Agana play and Brian Deane was playing for Leeds then. I was right at the back of one of the stands in the top tier in front of a full house. It was amazing and I thought it was fantastic."

Despite Warnock being impressed with the atmosphere inside Elland Road on Saturday, just 21,181 turned out for the Yorkshire derby against Doncaster Rovers.

The vast majority of Doncaster Rovers had decided to boycott the game after being asked to pay 36 for a ticket with the game deemed a Category A game.

A number of Leeds fans are also boycotting Elland Road at the moment and the cheapest tickets for the Leeds end were 31.

The crowd was down almost 6,000 on last season when 27,027 were at the game.

I feel we will see more endeavour from now on. Warnock is already talking a new signing (or signings) by next weekend. Watch out for a return of Derry and giant defender Fitz Hall.

Wait till we get a few in the ground and a half decent atmosphere.
