LUFC Warnock - We need a leader

Neil Warnock believes the team are lacking a leader on and off the pitch after watching his first game from the stands after the announcement of his appointment as the new Leeds United manager.

Warnock watched his new side come from two goals down in the Yorkshire derby at Elland Road to beat Doncaster Rovers 3-2 with virtually the last kick of the game in the ninth minute of stoppage time.

The new boss got involved from the stands and he also spoke with the players at half time.

Speaking to Yorkshire Radio after the game, Warnock said, "It was the hardest ninety minutes having been up in the stands. I have never used my phone so much.

"I just felt at half time we had to change things. They were trying really hard but the problem here, with the expectations, they just have to try to relax a little bit.

"We are lacking leaders on the pitch. There are no natural leaders in there."

Andy Lonergan is currently the Leeds captain, the third to wear the armband this season.

Jonny Howson was the regular club captain before injury and then his sale saw the captaincy go to experienced defender Patrick Kisnorbo.

Lonergan took over as captain after Kisnorbo suffered a knee injury in the New Year`s game with Burnley, which has ruled him out for the season.

I wonder if Grayson is reading any of his comments. Giving Snodgrass a free role, we need to go back to basics and no leader on the pitch. It is what we have been saying for a few seasons.
