LUFC Warnock - I couldn't resist having a word

New Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says he couldn`t resist going into the dressing room at half time and gave credit to the fighting spirit of the Leeds players as they turned round a two goal deficit with a dramatic late winner.

Warnock watched his first game as Leeds boss against Doncaster Rovers from the stands, with caretaker manager Neil Redfearn overlooking matters from the touchline.

The first half performance must have opened the eyes of Warnock to the extent of the job ahead of him as bottom side Doncaster deservedly led 1-0 at half time and Warnock admitted he couldn`t resist going into the changing room at half time.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Warnock said, 'I couldn't resist going down at half-time if I'm honest. I'm not a stand man.

'I thought they did well. We changed formation just after half-time and I thought it worked well if I'm honest."

The second half started much the same and Doncaster increased their lead within ten minutes of the restart.

Leeds immediately hit back through Andros Townsend and Adam Clayton set up a grandstand finish with the equaliser with just ten minutes remaining.

Luciano Becchio then sealed the win for Leeds with almost the last kick of the game deep into stoppage time and Warnock gave credit to the Leeds players on their fight back.

'Credit to them, a lot of teams might have given up. But 2-0 down, it got the atmosphere going,' continued Warnock.

Warnock will now bring in his own backroom staff with his number two at Queens Park Rangers Keith Curle expecting to join him this week at Elland Road as they prepare for their first game in charge at Portsmouth next Saturday.

The last half hour there was a lot more movement in the final third with the wingers changing around. Snodgrass drifting and Becchio suddenly started winning things.
