LUFC Redfearn - We were not thorough enough

Leeds United caretaker manager Neil Redfearn says the side lacked urgency and were not thorough in their performance as they went down to a 2-1 defeat at home to Brighton and Hove Albion at Elland Road.

It was Redfearn`s first home game in charge of Leeds since taking charge over a temporary basis, following the sacking of Simon Grayson just over a week ago.

Leeds won his first game in charge at Bristol City 3-0 last weekend and Redfearn felt that the players lacked the urgency on the pitch, especially in the final twenty minutes.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Redfearn said, "If you go back to the Bristol City game, there was an urgency to get to things, get to people, close down, and make it difficult for Bristol City.

"That is what happens when you do things properly. You earn your bit of luck.

"If you are not thorough, and I don`t think we were thorough enough in the final twenty minutes and we disappeared in front of the back four.

"They got round the edge of our box too easy at times and you are asking for trouble. Up to that point, I thought we were more than a match.

"We created the better chances and perhaps should have had a penalty. Luciano had a couple of good chances and we could have been two or three up.

"The big thing is we need to start keeping clean sheets and keeping things tight because we have enough going forward."
