Leeds United caretaker manager Neil Redfearn said it was a fantastic feeling and a tremendous honour to lead Leeds out at Elland Road in his first home game in charge since taking over from Simon Grayson.
The Yorkshire born Leeds fan said it was a fantastic feeling but he could not hide his disappointment as his first home game ended in defeat at the hands of Brighton.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Redfearn said "It was a fantastic feeling. I used to go watch Leeds when I was a kid and it is a tremendous honour but I am obviously disappointed we did not get the result."
Redfearn has been given this week, a week in which Leeds have three games, to stake his claim for the Leeds job on a permanent basis.
He admits that the problems in the side will not disappear overnight, after Leeds went down to their sixth home defeat of the season, with Brighton scoring the winner deep into injury time to claim the points in a 2-1 win.
"I do not think we are that far away. I know the things that are wrong and it is not going to happen overnight, I know that for a fact. "One or two things need working with and working on. To be fair to the lads I have had a response from them. They have put the effort in again, and I cannot ask for any more than that but we have to be far more thorough, we have to see things off better," continued Redfearn.
The defeat for Leeds sees them drop below Brighton and into tenth place in the championship.
