LUFC Smith - I am ready for the championship

Young defender Adam Smith says he is ready to show what he can do in the championship with Leeds United.

Smith joined on transfer deadline day from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur after they recalled him from his season long loan with League One side MK Dons, allowing him to sign for Leeds until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old now feels he is ready to prove himself in the championship at Leeds and he says he no hesitation in joining the club.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Smith said, "I feel I`ve done my time in League One and I was ready for a chance in the Championship.

"The attraction of coming to Leeds was the club itself. They`re a massive club with a massive fanbase and good players. I had no hesitation whatsoever in coming here.

"I was meant to be at MK Dons for the whole season and Tottenham just recalled me. With it being the last day of the window I was pretty surprised.

"Literally, the move here was done within a day of leaving MK Dons. I found out, packed my bags and came straight here."

Having come through the Tottenham Hotspur academy he is still waiting to make a senior appearance with the club but he already has close to 100 senior first team appearances to his name, having enjoyed loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers, Torquay United, Bournemouth and MK Dons.

He has also represented England at five levels and is currently a member of the under 21 squad having made four appearances, including three in their qualifying group for the European under 21 2013 championship finals.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do at the weekend. Saw him on the TV for MK Dons against QPR in the cup and he looked a good player who also gets forward and is a good crosser of a ball.

I thought he looked quite nervous in the first half and grew into the game. Once Bolasie was sent off, who was causing him quite a bit of trouble then he got better and better. He linked up really well with Snodgrass with so much space on the pitch.

I'm hearing conflicting stories when we signed him I thought we had the option to buy at the end of the season... yp said yesterday he's expected to receive an improved contract offer from tfc at the end of the season? Does his contract run beyond the end of the season or does it run out? do we have an option to buy?! confused. anyone know?
