LUFC McCormack - Pressure on the sides above us

Leeds United striker Ross McCormack says he prefers the points on the board and says the win at Bristol City last weekend puts pressure on those sides that did not play.

The win for Leeds moved them back to within a point of Hull and one point behind Reading who currently fill 7th and 8th place and McCormack says the pressure is now on them to win their games in hand.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, McCormack said, "I have been on the other side of the coin where you have got games in hand. I don`t think you want that, you want the points on the board. So that will put a bit of pressure on the teams above us to keep winning."

Both Hull and Reading saw their games called off last weekend because of the freezing weather conditions currently in the UK.

It proved a good day for Leeds with five of the sides above them at the start of the day all dropping points.

Southampton, Middlesbrough, Birmingham and Burnley all drew whilst Cardiff City lost to allow Leeds to close the gap on the play off places to two points.

Southampton currently fill the second automatic place and are seven points ahead of Leeds with the saints still to visit Elland Road this season.

Birmingham continued their good run of form on Tuesday night, when they beat Portsmouth 1-0 at home.

Having been in the play offs nearly all last season I suppose there is more pressure on those above us but I would sooner have their points and position and game in hand at the moment. Seems strange that he says sooner have the points when we are still behind these teams.

Sorry Ross but that doesn't make much sense. We are still behind the sides above us and they have games in hand. The pressure is surely still on us to keep winning otherwise we will never catch them up.
