LUFC Redfern getting help from O'Brien and Paddy

Leeds United caretaker manager Neil Redfearn says he is getting plenty of help from defenders Andy O`Brien and Patrick Kisnorbo since taking over from Simon Grayson last week.

O`Brien has only just returned to training at the club after refusing to play under former manager Simon Grayson after suffering from depression.

The experienced defender returned to training last Thursday and was part of Redfearn`s staff on the bench at Bristol City on Saturday.

Redfearn explained the reasons for O`Brien being on the bench and says he is grateful for his and Kisnorbo`s input, with the Australian ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Redfearn said, "O`Brien is an experienced pro, he has played in the Premiership for long enough and he has had a great career. He still has years in front of him, he is a fit boy who has looked after himself.

"What`s happened as happened. Things happen in football and people want to win. Things get heated and things happen but that has all been and gone and we are just glad to get him back.

"Like I say, he is an experienced pro and he is great for me to lean on. Paddy Kisnorbo is another experienced international, these are good people to lean on and to throw thoughts about and it helps you in your way of thinking.

"Obviously they go back in the dressing room as well and it just galvanises everything and like anything else, when changes are made that is what you are looking to happen. You want the club to be galvanised you want the team to be going in the right direction so that was the reason behind that."

O`Brien has not featured for Leeds since the 1-0 win at Leicester City at the start of November.

He missed the chance to improve his fitness this week with a behind closed doors friendly game with Middlesbrough falling foul of the bad weather.
