LUFC Another former player critical of transfers

Another former Leeds United player has come out and criticised the clubs transfer policy.

John Hendrie played for Leeds under Howard Wilkinson in the promotion-winning season of 1989/90 and was a guest on the BBC Late Kick off show on Monday night.

Hendrie was talking to host Guy Mowbray about the recent sacking of Simon Grayson and as well as questioning the sacking, he also questioned the timing of the sacking, which would not allow a new manager to do anything other than work in the loan transfer window.

Speaking on the show, Hendrie said, "The writing was on the wall when the chairman came out in his programme notes and said there is big pressure on Simon and he must improve on last year.

"The timing is a problem. In the 37 months that Simon was there, he made something like 33 loan signings, which tells you something in itself.

"The new guy who is going to be in charge will not be able to wheel and deal. Once again it will just be emergency loans."

In the last two weeks, former Leeds players Brian Deane and Tony Dorigo have both been critical of the way Leeds are doing business in the transfer market with players both arriving and leaving.
