LUFC Another month of empty promises over

Well there we go, another damp squib of a transfer window has been and gone.

The promises of players coming in with quality. Players who would go straight into the first team and not here to make up the squad.

In the end, we have brought in two players permanently and one of those has been with us on loan for three months.

The other full time player joins us from the Mickey Mouse MLS League Where players who are usually over the hill go to make one final attempt to add to their nest egg before retirement.

Once again Loans United have been busy in the transfer window. Tottenham Hotspur youngsters Andros Townsend and Adam Smith have joined for the remainder of the season whilst former favourite Fabian Delph has joined for a month from Aston Villa.

Grayson said a number of players would be leaving but unfortunately out of the three that have gone, one was the club captain and a local lad who had come through the Leeds academy.

Jonny Howson joined Premier League side Norwich City with just six months remaining on his contract. Howson wanted Premier League football and with the lack of ambition inside Elland Road he knew he would probably be waiting a very long time if he was ever to reach the summit of English football with Leeds United.

Young Will Hatfield was released from his contract after the 20 year old had failed to break into the first team and young goalkeeper Alex Cairns joined Barrow on a month`s loan.

Leeds saw two loan players return to Elland Road. Promising young left back returned after spending one month at Bradford City and calamity goalkeeper Paul Rachubka returned after two months at Elland Road.

The loan window reopens in a week`s time but Simon Grayson has already indicated that his budget has been spent and unless he can reduce his squad, nobody else will be coming to Elland Road.

Leeds were once again linked with a whole host of players with only a few of these actually joining the club.

I am not dreading the transfer window when it reopens in the summer, because the biggest fear will be losing the best players at Elland Road, who may follow Jonny Howson out of the door with the lure of Premier League football.
