Another former player critical of transfer policy

Another former Leeds United favourite, Tony Dorigo has criticised the lack of investment in the Leeds squad and also the sales of good young players.

Dorigo was a guest on the regional BBC Late Kick off show on Monday night with presenter Guy Mowbray and talked about the lack of investment in the squad and the worrying trait Leeds are falling into of selling all their good young players.

Speaking on the show on Monday night, Dorigo said, "I think Simon Grayson, with the team that he has got and the finance he has got at his disposal is doing rather well.

"I think it is disappointing that after having a good season after getting up from League One and consolidating their position in the championship, now you would like to see such a big club really push on and see a bit of investment.

"I do think the championship is a pretty open league and with a bit of investment Leeds could be really up there. What is really worrying at the moment is Leeds are not buying the players to come in and Leeds are not keeping the good young ones either."

Dorigo was part of Howard Wilkinson`s championship winning squad in 1991/92 and he also worked for current Leeds chairman Ken Bates during their time at Chelsea together.

The former Leeds left back joins Brian Deane in criticising Leeds transfer policy in recent season.

Deane spoke on the same show last week and praised the job being done by Grayson under a tight transfer budget when he said, "Under the circumstances I think Simon Grayson has done a really good job.

'Loan signings coming in, are they going to have the passion for the club that somebody on a two or three year contract is going to have?'

Leeds have brought in four players so far during the January transfer window, which closes today at 11pm.

Danny Pugh has completed a two and a half year deal after spending the last three months on loan.

American international winger Robbie Rogers has signed on an eighteen-month deal.

Andros Townsend and Fabian Delph have both joined on Loan, something Leeds have used on a regular basis since the arrival of Grayson.

The duo bring Leeds total of loan signings this season to six, with Darren O`Dea (season), Andy Keogh, Danny Pugh and Alex McCarthy also spending time on loan at Elland Road this season.

Your right Tony, take a look at a team like the Saints, they just signed Sharp from Doncaster whenever they have 2 excellent and fre scoring strikers. That's what it is like to have a desire to return to top flight football and not simply sit back, sell top players and then bring in loans to secure promotion. The only aspiration they have is to slip into the playoffs and hope the other teams have bad days. Its not going to happen.

Theres an outside chance that Ross McCormack will rejoin Glasgow Rangers today - dependant on other deals going through

And still things don't change. We will never see anything different whilst Bates is in charge.
