LUFC Lonergan - We are ok without Howson

LUFC Lonergan - We are ok without Howson

New Leeds United captain Andy Lonergan says the club are doing ok without former club captain Jonny Howson who left the club last week.

Howson joined Premier League side Norwich City having been out injured since suffering a knee injury in the game with Millwall on December 3rd.

Lonergan feels that the midfield have been doing ok without him and that Fabian Delph is an excellent signing in his place.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Lonergan said, "He had not played for six weeks and the players playing in his place were doing all right.

"Fabian is an excellent signing, if we can get that tied up until the end of the season because he is more than an adequate replacement."

Former Leeds favourite Delph joined the club on loan from Aston Villa recently and made his first start in the 3-1 win over Ipswich Town.

Delph is due to return to Villa Park after the game at Portsmouth on February 25th but Leeds are keen to extend the deal until the end of the season.
