LUFC Leeds v Birmingham Head To Head

Vital Leeds looks at the head to head record against Birmingham City at Elland Road.

The two sides have met on 43 previous occasions at Elland Road with Leeds winning 24, Birmingham 7 and 12 have been drawn.

The first ever meeting between the two sides was a Second Division encounter during the 1920/21 season when a penalty from Jim Baker for Leeds was enough to beat the eventual championships of the division.

Birmingham won their first game at Elland Road by the same scoreline when they next met in a First Division encounter during the 1924/25 season.

More recently, Leeds have won seven of the last eight meetings including the last one during the 2006/07 season 3-2.

Two goals by David Healy, one a penalty and an own goal by Olivier Tebily secured the win for Leeds under caretaker manager John Carver.

Leeds biggest win over Birmingham is 4-0 on two occasions during the 1972/73 season (Allan Clarke (2), Mick Jones & Peter Lorimer) and the 1986/87 season (Ian Baird (2), Keith Edwards & John Sheridan).

Birmingham`s biggest win at Leeds is 2-0 during the 1936/37 and 2003/04 seasons.

In the 43 meetings, there is an average of 2.23 goals per game with Leeds scoring 67 and Birmingham 29

I wouldn't be surprised if Birmingham are actually favourites for this game. We have a great home record against them but most of it in the distant past.
