LUFC Clayton wants to stay with Leeds

Leeds United midfielder Adam Clayton says his future remains at Elland Road after seeing his name linked with a number of Premier League sides during the January transfer window.

Clayton has 18 months remaining on his current contract and he has been linked with moves to Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City, Fulham and Wigan Athletic but Clayton wants to remain with Leeds.

Speaking on the official website, Clayton said, "I`ve just read the same as what (everyone) has read, that`s all.

"People will make of it what they want, but for me, my future`s at Leeds United for the minute and hopefully for the foreseeable future."

Clayton signed for Leeds in the summer of 2010 from Manchester City and after a frustrating first season at Elland Road, which saw him make just four substitute appearances he has been a regular in the Leeds midfield this season.

The 22 year old has made 26 appearances this season in the championship, missing just the game with Crystal Palace in September through injury.

He was recently dropped to the substitutes bench in the defeat at Barnsley over the festive period but he will now be looking to get back to the form that saw him pick up a number of man of the match awards early in the season.

Clayton has also chipped in with five goals this season, including crucial goals against West Ham and Leicester City.

This means he will probably be gone in the next week.

Have been very impressed with claytons form this season. He is the kind of player who gives it all out on the pitch, and whats more his best years are still ahead of him. I've seen a lot of Jordan Rhodes this season and would give anything to see him in a leeds shirt. Again hes the rite age, has a good physical presence about him and most importantly can find the back of the net. I wonder what the going rate would be for him considering hes not a freebie, loanee or past his sell by date lol
