LUFC Grayson - It mirrored the game at Ipswich

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson says the win over Ipswich Town mirrored what happened at Portman Road earlier in the season when the away side dominated the game before a sending off.

At Ipswich in August, Leeds led 1-0 at half time thanks to a Ross McCormack strike and could have quite easily have been further ahead at the break.

The game turned when Leeds defender Aidy White was shown a straight red card when the last man in defence and bringing down Ipswich player Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

Ipswich went on to score twice inside the final fifteen minutes and claim all three points and Grayson says the side not deserving to win won both games.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, "The game just mirrored a bit of what happened down at Portman Road where we dominated the first half, the sending off changed the shape of the game and they went on and won the game when they probably didn`t deserve too based on the first half performance. This was very much the case today."

At Elland Road this afternoon, Ipswich deservedly led at half time through a Adam Drury goal and could have quite easily had two or three.

Andy Lonergan did well to deny Lee Martin when one on one and Emmanuel-Thomas hit the woodwork with almost the last kick of the half.

The second half carried on in a similar vein until Ipswich goalkeeper Alex McCarthy was shown a straight red card for deliberate handball outside the area with just twenty minutes remaining.

Within minutes Robert Snodgrass had levelled for Leeds and goals inside the final ten minutes from Ross McCormack and Luciano Becchio clinched an undeserved three points for Leeds.

The McCarthy sending off makes it three games in a row in the championship that Leeds have finished the game playing against ten men.

Leeds have picked up seven points from a possible nine in the three games having trailed in all three games before the sending off.

The win lifts Leeds back into ninth place in the championship.
