LUFC Spurs view on Andros Townsend

Leeds United have signed Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Andros Townsend on loan until the end of the season.

I have spoken to our colleague`s at vital Spurs to get the lowdown on our new signing.

The following Spurs fans said:

Oxford Spur
A good move. I hope that Grayson sticks around and gives him his opportunity over a run of games because this is what he desperately needs. He is a very bright player, but does need to develop his team game as opposed to being an outstanding individual talent, although he could always try to make it as a singer of his football career doesn`t take off.

The corner pin
Townsend is a very promising player, it's a shame he plays the same position as Bale or he would have had loads more first team appearances. He is most effective on the left wing but can play right wing too. He is quick and is not afraid to have a go at goal. He has scored one or two crackers. A very good signing for you. And yes he is better than Livermore. I rate him as one of our best youngsters.

Paddieu
Getting rid of him in the current climate sucks - come Feb/March and plenty of injuries, where will the striking potential come from? One thing about this boy is he is unafraid to shoot. Do we have the 'emergency recall' clause, does anybody know?

Elldiablo Nabil
He will definitely make the grade in the Premier League. He is a left-winger but can play left back and also on the right. His strengths are his pace and versatility. His weaknesses are his crossing and not tracking back.

Big Chiv
Shame Townsend's gone.
Just a personal view obviously, but I would sooner see him on the bench than the usual suspects if we needed to change things in order to get a goal.
A bit of youthful exuberance, plus ability, could cause some problems in the last 20 minutes, rather than the non-appearance of anyone but Defoe.

(SpursFan) A couple of the guys above have stated that they are sad to see Townsend gone on loan. I am actually chuffed that he has gone to Leeds. Townsend is not ready for first team action for a 3rd placed Premiership club. Townsend actually has not played in the Premiership at all yet, so he is very inexperienced, and cannot be relied upon for Spurs - so we will not miss him. However, a loan to Leeds could give him enough experience and confidence to compete for a place next season. It could be very beneficial for both clubs and Townsend - if you guys use him well. Good luck.

Andros is a very decent player but is still someone that is a great individual as opposed to being a real team man. Personally I believe ths is purely about his need to play games and develop playing relationships with team mates as opposed to him being a limited or selfish player. This season he has been a little unlucky with his spurs opportunities because all too often he has been used as a eft back which is clearly not his best position, but to his credit he has stuck at the task. This was in part due to a genuine shortage or defensive option for Spurs in European games, but I also think it was done with one eye on his development in adding qualities, vision and work rate to his game, all of which are very much there, but just need a little polish

Seems well liked by Spurs fans, lets hope he can inject some pace into a very slow side
