LUFC Grayson - More players than intended needed

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is now looking to bring in more players than originally intended after another poor performance.

Leeds rolled over at Barnsley, losing 4-1 in a game where the players showed little passion, fight or desire.

Grayson stated after the game that the performance was not good enough and one or two players were not good enough to play for Leeds.

The transfer window reopened at midnight and Grayson is now looking to bring in more players than he originally intended to do.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, "There is a window to be able to do them now, so we will be looking to do it . There might be more than the one or two we expected before today`s game."

Despite supposedly having one of the biggest squads in the championship, Leeds have little strength in depth.

Ramon Nunez and Mika Vayrynen got rare starts at Barnsley, with only Nunez doing his chances of retaining his place any good.

Luciano Becchio, Lloyd Sam and Adam Clayton were on the bench and have done little recently to suggest they will change the fortunes of the side.

Alex Bruce was recalled from his loan at Huddersfield Town and was also amongst the substitutes. Bruce looked certain to be leaving Leeds in January, with Grayson needing a clear out before he can add to his squad.

Andy O`Brien is still refusing to play for the club and Leigh Bromby was ruled out through injury.

This leaves just Mikael Forssell and Ben Parker with experience who are not featuring for the club.

Forssell has made just six substitute appearances since signing for the club in September but with the three strikers, Luciano Becchio, Ross McCormack and Andy Keogh all misfiring he still cannot get into the squad of sixteen.

Ben Parker has only just returned from yet another injury and needs to go out on loan to improve his fitness before being thrown in again by Grayson.

With Jonny Howson, Robert Snodgrass and Davide Somma all on the sidelines for the foreseeable future this leaves just the youngsters to call upon.

Andy O'Brien is still refusing to play for the club if he is refusing to play get rid of him...Nunez is like a new player who SG should stick with get rid of Vayrynen and Forssell for starters...Leeds have the biggest squad in the Premiership and no strength in depth...

Bring in some hungry home grown players. We are not going to get promotion but as long as we stay up that's all that matters this year. Another disappointment. The only time a number of our players actually perform is: 1. A few weeks before an international game 2. When other teams are interested in them and they up their game 3. When the TV cameras are on them. Other than that they don't give a toss. Bring new faces in and cut wages for poor performers. Let us be the judges.

We've known we need a major influx of quality rather than quantity for a while but will Grayson be trusted to bring them in. His past record on Loans and Signings are POOR

We need half a dozen quality players and Bates won't finance that.
