LUFC Grayson - We are in a position to challenge

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson says the side have got themsleves in a good position at the half way stage of the season.

Grayson has seen his side drop out of the play off places over the festive period after picking up just one point in three games.

Despite this, Grayson says they are in a position to challenge for promotion in the second half of the season.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Post , "I would love us to be 10 points clear at the top right now but we aren`t. What we have done is get ourselves in a position where we can get into the play-offs and beyond."

Leeds entered 2011 in fourth place in the championship having accumulated 40 points from 24 games.

A bad run between March and April saw Leeds pick up just five points from eight games, eventually finishing one place outside the play offs in seventh place.

Today`s game at Barnsley will mark Leeds 46th game in 2011. Leeds have picked up 67 points from the previous 45 games this year, winning 18, drawing 13 and losing 14.
