LUFC Connolly wants a win for the fans

Leeds United defender Paul Connolly is looking to give the fans something to cheer about as they move into 2012 with a Yorskhire derby win at Barnsley on Saturday.

Leeds have slipped out of the play off places in recent weeks, failing to win any of their last three games.

Connolly is looking to the local derby at Barnsley on New Year`s Eve, a side who have been a thorn in the side of the whites since their return to the championship.

Barnsley beat Leeds 5-2 at Oakwell last season and they won at Elland Road just last month 2-1.

Connolly is looking for revenge and is hoping to send the big Leeds following home happy.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Connolly said, "It`s a great game because we owe them.

"I`m sure we`ll have another six or seven thousand there again and have nearly half the stadium.

"Last season, we got off to a good start there and just faded away.

"Hopefully, this year, we can start well and keep going and give the fans a massive cheer going into the New Year. Because we need to."

Leeds received an allocation of almost 6,000 tickets for the game and have a limited amount left according to the official website today.
