Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is looking to add quality to his squad when the transfer window opens next week and says plenty is going on behind closed doors.
Grayson knows he will have to move a number of players on as well to release some funds to bring in new players.
He admits the squad lacks quality and he is looking to address this in January.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, "There are a number of players here who will have to move on to other clubs because they are not playing too much, which will release some money.
"We have got too many players, without actually having one or two top quality players, which we are probably looking to bring in during the transfer window.
"It is never easy to do that, we talk about it all the time. We are looking to improve the squad but there are many reasons that can dictate how you get players in and why you do not get a player in. The one thing we are doing is targeting players that we want to bring in and we are trying to conclude deals."
Leeds signed just three players during the summer but added to the squad once the season started.
Finnish duo Mikael Forssell and Mika Vayrynen both signed full time contracts whilst Darren O`Dea joined on a season long loan from Celtic.
Andy Keogh and Danny Pugh both signed on loan until January, with Leeds stating that a deal has already been done with Pugh`s parent club Stoke City for the midfielder to sign a full time deal with Leeds in January.
Keogh has also expressed a desire to stay with Leeds past his loan deal in January.
Grayson also says that despite the lack of news on possible transfer targets, plenty is going on behind closed doors with him preferring to conclude a deal before commenting on speculation. "I hate people knowing what business I am doing. I like to do my business in private. I do not want it out in public with people talking and discussing things because sometimes you can miss out on players. I want to do all my business within the walls of the training ground if possible.
"Just because we are not commenting on speculation doesn`t mean we are not to achieve something," continued Grayson.
Of those who could possibly leave. Alex Bruce is currently on loan with League One side Huddersfield Town with the possibility of the deal being full time when the transfer window reopens.
Goalkeeper Paul Rachubka only signed for Leeds in the summer from Blackpool but after a disastrous spell in the Leeds goal, he was allowed to join League One side Tranmere Rovers until January to regain his confidence.
It is very questionable whether Grayson would ever risk putting Rachubka back in the Leeds goal with the pressure that would be on him in front of the Leeds fans.
Andy O`Brien has stated that he never wants to play for Leeds again. The defender turned down a loan move to fellow championship side Bristol City in November but he must surely be leaving in January.
Leigh Bromby has made just six appearances this season and he could be another on his way out.
Ben Parker has made just nine appearances in the last two and a half seasons and has just returned to full fitness. Both Parker and Grayson have already stated that they will be looking for a loan deal in January.
