LUFC Grayson not writing off automatic spot

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is refusing to write off the clubs automatic promotion hopes despite slipping to eight in the championship after their Boxing Day defeat to Derby County.

Leeds are now nine points behind second placed West Ham and twelve points behind current leaders Southampton.

They have now taken just one point from a possible nine and dropped out of the play off places for only the second time since the start of October.

Grayson is looking for a return to form and believes he has the players at the club capable of producing a good run of form. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, "There are still twenty three games to go and anything can happen with everybody. We just have to keep trying to maintain a run of form, get some victories on the board and see where it takes us. We have a group that are capable of doing it and hopefully we can play as well as we did at Derby when we go to Barnsley and we will get a result."

Leeds are four points worse off than at the same stage last season, where they eventually finished one place outside the play off places, three points behind Nottingham Forest.
