LUFC Parker will go out on loan

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson says he will loan out Ben Parker when the transfer window reopens next week.

The defender has had a horrendous two and a half years with injury, making just nine first team appearances.

The 24 year old is out of contract in the summer and Parker admitted in the week that he needs to get match fitness and was looking for a loan spell in the New Year.

Grayson confirmed that he intends to send Parker out for the benefit of both the player and the club.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Grayson said, "I`d have thought that would be a good option for him and for us.

"He`s had such a long time out and it was good to see him come through another reserve game last week. If he can maintain his training before the window opens, there might be a couple of options for him to go out on loan.

"It`s important - vital really - that he starts playing football again, for his benefit and our benefit."

The defender has come through the Leeds United academy and he is one of the longest serving players at the club.

He was hoping to force his way back into the reckoning this season after enjoying his first preseason since 2009.

Parker made his first start of the season in the Carling Cup clash against Bradford City in August but he hasn`t featured since after suffering injury.

Parker`s return to fitness from his latest injury is going well, he has played in four friendly games in the past three weeks, and he managed to get on the score sheet in one against Rochdale.
