LUFC Former keeper Higgs joins Cobblers

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Shane Higgs has signed for League Two side Northampton Town on an eighteen month contract.

The goalkeeper has been without a club since being released by Leeds at the end of last season.

Higgs spent two seasons at Elland Road after joining from Cheltenham Town and helped Leeds win promotion from League One in his first season making twenty-two appearances.

His opportunities were limited in Leeds first season in the championship last season after the arrival of Kasper Schmeichel and he made just seven appearances.

The 34 year old made his last appearance for Leeds in the 2-1 defeat at Ipswich Town last October, when he was forced off late in the game through injury.
