LUFC McDermott - No chance of signing McCarthy

Reading boss Brian McDermott say Leeds United have no chance of signing Alex McCarthy.

McCarthy extended his loan at Leeds into a second month earlier this week and it is reported that Leeds boss Simon Grayson would be interested in signing the England under 21 international on a permanent basis.

Despite only making one appearance for Reading this season, McDermott says that Leeds have no chance of signing him.

Speaking in the Reading Chronicle, McDermott said, 'Absolutely no chance whatsoever. It's not even worth discussing.

'Alex is playing for them on loan at the moment, but that's all. It works for both them and most importantly for Alex.'

Leeds have lost just one of the six games they have played since McCarthy`s arrival at Elland Road.

Leeds had only managed two clean sheets in fifteen games before his arrival but they have managed three in the six games that he has played.

Despite not keeping a clean sheet at Watford last weekend he saved a penalty in the closing minutes to help Leeds secure a point.

McCarthy is ineligible to play this weekend when Leeds and Reading clash at Elland Road.
