LUFC McCarthy loving time at Leeds

On loan goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is loving his time at Leeds and the chance to play regularly.

McCarthy extended his loan into a second month this week and the England under 21 international says it is a pleasure to play for Leeds.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, McCarthy said, "As soon as I came here, the lads were really welcoming and excellent with me. I`ve loved it up north. I`ve got a couple of family friends up here, so I`ve stayed up here and enjoyed my time.

"The main reason to come here was to play games and that`s what I`ve been doing.

"It`s a massive club with great expectations here and they are striving for big things. It`s a pleasure to play for the club."

Leeds enjoyed a good spell during McCarthy`s first month with the club, losing just one of the six games he played in.

The 22 year old kept three clean sheets in his six games and it was his penalty save in the final minutes of the game at Watford on Saturday, which helped Leeds earn a point in a 1-1 draw.

McCarthy will have to watch from the stands on Saturday, as he is unable to play against his parent club Reading.
