LUFC Howson out for the forseeable future

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson says midfielder Jonny Howson will be out for the foreseeable future.

Howson suffered a knee injury in the win over Millwall at the start of the month and saw a specialist last week to assess the injury.

Grayson says that his captain will be out for the foreseeable future, but his injury is not as bad as they first feared, with surgery not required.

Speaking on the official website, Grayson said, 'We're waiting on a few things. The severity isn't as major as it could have been, which is positive news for us and Jonny. It's not his cruciate and he won't need surgery.

'He won't be playing for the foreseeable, but he'll be working hard with the physios in the coming weeks and over Christmas and we'll see where we are.

'I'm not putting any time scale on it, but the good thing is that he doesn't need surgery.'

Howson was forced to miss his first game through injury on Saturday since Leeds returned to the championship last season.

The club captain was the only ever present in the side last season, starting all 46 championship games.

This season he had missed just the one game through suspension before suffering the injury against Millwall.
