Leeds United boss Simon Grayson said his side didn`t deserve anything from the game after seeing Robert Snodgrass salvage a point from the penalty spot with the last kick of the game.
Speaking after the game, Grayson said, 'We probably didn't deserve the point if you look at our performance."
Leeds looked to be heading for defeat after Michael Kightley had given Watford a first half lead.
It looked all over with just two minutes remaining when Marvin Sordell had the chance to double the lead from the penalty spot following a Patrick Kisnorbo foul.
Alex McCarthy pushed the penalty onto the post, Leeds managed to clear their lines, and it proved a crucial moments as deep into stoppage time Leeds earned their own penalty.
The high boot of Nyron Nosworthy caught Mika Vayrynen just inside the penalty area and referee Eddie Ilderton had no hesitation in pointing to the spot.
Grayson admitted that the penalty save gave Leeds the determination for a final push for an equaliser in a game that they rarely looked like scoring in.
'The big turning point was the penalty save and it gave us a chance to get something out of the game and it is great that the players had the determination to go until the end," Grayson continued.
Despite a poor performance, Leeds closed the gap on West Ham in the final automatic promotion after the Hammers were beaten 3-0 at Reading.
Leeds did drop a place though to sixth after Hull City leapfrogged them in the table after winning 1-0 at Coventry City.
Middlesbrough were the only other side in the championship, who started the day inside the top ten in the division to win, as they beat Brighton and Hove Albion 1-0 at the Riverside and go level on points with Cardiff in third place.
